ony Spada is best known for being the creative force /composer and one of the founding members of the American Prog rock group "HOLDING PATTERN". Tony Spada is a masterful guitarist, balancing advanced technique with a diversity of styles, from solo classical guitar to power trio rock, into intricately textured ensemble pieces.

This diversification led to positions arranging and producing with Talent Associates Agency of Miami and with ABC Records as a studio musician. Returning to Connecticut he performed in several bands before forming HOLDING PATTERN in 1981. Through the release of world wide albums, videos, and concertizing with Steve Morse, Kansas, Rick Wakeman and Steve Howe of YES to name a few, HOLDING PATTERN has built a loyal following of fans around the globe.

Tony’s split with HP in 1992 prompted him to start a new band to support the release of his critically acclaimed "Balance of Power" album and a chance to return to a more progressive/guitarist style of music. "Balance of Power" was enjoyed not only by fans of HP but helped create a solo career to a growing audience in just about every country .

His second solo album "The Human Element" was released January 2005, and created a buzz in the prog community based on press releases, zine reviews, requests for advance orders and strong coverage in various media.

The album featured a new streamlined lineup, Although basically a power trio, "The Human Element" stretches out in many directions, from classical guitar music to fusion, Celtic and Symphonic Rock.

In 2008 Holding Pattern reformed and released "Breaking the Silence" resulting in 2 world tours with appearances in Japan through August of 2011.

Tony has also recently been inducted to the "Progressive Rock Hall of Fame" and signed an artist endorsement deal with ErnieBall/MusicMan of California also performing as guest soloist with the Hartford Symphony Orchestra.

He is a respected record producer and touring attraction in the US and in Europe with Holding Pattern and as a solo artist. He continues to teach and produce music in every genre for a diversified roster of artists and currently Sync-licensing music ques for TV and film for National Geographic,VH1, History Channel, Discovery etc. via various companies including Jingle Punks and RumbleFish.
